The idea

We revitalized the Looza design with whimsical shapes and colourful patterns, combined in numerous variations. Each of the 21 flavours got its own look, and the same technique brands a new range of refreshing fruit drinks.

The story behind the work

What was the challenge?

Looza blends domestic and exotic fruits into delicious juices and has built an impressive heritage. What began in 1947 with freshly squeezed apple juice in picturesque Haspengouw grew into a strong brand, internationally acclaimed for taste and quality. Looza cherishes that past and cares just as much about its future. The design had to revitalize the roots and add even more flavour and fun. It also had to work for 21 flavours, each with a design of its own, and for a new range of refreshing fruit drinks that takes Looza into a whole new segment.

What choices did we make?

We started from the basic shapes of the 4 most popular fruits, added fresh colours and put it all in a blender. Whimsical shapes and colourful patterns, combined in numerous variations, gave every flavour its own design. The 20 cl bottle is a replica of the 1 L bottle that won an esteemed packaging award in 1970. We left its design alone and put it in the spotlights, to make clear Looza is back in great shape. The messaging follows the 'live juicy' philosophy. It encourages people to flavour the everyday routine with an element of surprise. Looza is about heritage and about pleasure: it is delicious and it is fun.

What did we create?

We revitalized the Looza design with whimsical shapes and colourful patterns. If it grows on a tree, chances are Looza has bottled it, and each of the 21 flavours now has its own design. The same technique works for a new range of refreshing fruit drinks. Looza Ace introduced extra vitamins in 1999 and more smart drinks followed. The three new drinks mix natural botanicals and cut back on calories, and our spick-and-span design suits Looza Smash well. We also created exciting POS materials and messaging that tickles people's curiosity, down to a coaster that invites you to ask the bartender for a telephone number.
