Boeckx and De Vloed
Design to operate

Boeckx and De Vloed combine their strengths and talents under one name: DETOO Architects. The claim "Design to operate" says what the practice stands for. It designs the building that is actually needed.

The story behind the work
What was the challenge?
Boeckx and De Vloed both specialise in educational and health care construction. They decided to combine their strengths and talents in one practice. The new entity is ambitious and ready to design Belgian and international projects that require specific expertise. It needed a name and a claim that make this clear from the start. The claim also had to say how the practice looks at a design assignment.
What choices did we make?
The two practices continue under one name: DETOO Architects. The name presents a new entity with its own ambition. The claim "Design to operate" carries the promise of the practice. DETOO does not simply design the building that is asked for. It designs the building that is actually needed. That promise fits projects that require specific expertise, in Belgium and abroad.
What did we create?
The result is the name DETOO Architects for the combined strengths and talents of Boeckx and De Vloed, together with the claim "Design to operate". Name and claim show a practice that specialises in educational and health care construction. They also show that it is ready to take on Belgian and international projects.
